Privacy Policy
Make My Mahj: American Mahjong · Effective August 14, 2026
1 About us and this policy
Silver Thread Studio LLC, a New York limited liability company (“we,” “our,” or “us”), makes the mobile game Make My Mahj: American Mahjong (the “App”) and operates the website at makemymahjapp.com (together, the “Services”). This policy explains what information the Services collect, how we use that information, who receives it, and the choices you have. It does not cover Apple’s handling of your information, which is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Some of the features described below are planned rather than live; we say so where that is the case, and we will update this policy before any new feature collects information beyond what is described here.
2 What we collect
You do not need an account to play, and we do not ask you for your name, email address, or date of birth in order to play. The App is built with Unity, and Unity’s software automatically collects a limited set of technical information in order to run the game, validate licenses, prevent fraud, and manage sessions: your IP address, from which an approximate location such as a city or state can be inferred; a device identifier and a session identifier; crash reports and performance data; and information about your device and the version of the App you are running. We also receive gameplay information, such as which features you use and how far you progress. If you write to us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, so please do not send us anything you would not want us to have. If you visit our website, our hosting provider records standard server information such as your IP address and the pages you view.
3 Your photo library
The App can ask your permission to open your photo library so that you can load a photo of your own mah jongg card and refer to it while you play. The image you select is used on your device. We do not upload it, share it, or keep a copy, and we do not read anything else in your library. You can decline this permission and still play the game, and you can change your decision at any time in your device settings. If a future version of the App needs to process the image away from your device, we will tell you before that happens.
4 Purchases
The App offers in-app purchases, currently a monthly or annual subscription. We expect to add one-time purchases and promotional codes. All purchases go through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Apple handles your payment information, and we never receive or store your card details. To unlock and restore purchases, the App uses Unity’s in-app purchasing software, which receives transaction identifiers, receipt validation tokens, and your purchase history for this App. If you redeem a promotional code, we receive the code and the fact that it was redeemed. If we ever offer a way to purchase outside the App Store, we will update this policy to describe how that payment information is handled.
5 How we use information
We use what we collect to run the game and save your progress; to unlock, restore, and support your purchases; to diagnose crashes and fix problems; to understand how the App performs and which features players use; to answer your questions; to send notifications if you allow them; and to comply with law and to prevent fraud and abuse. We do not make decisions about you by automated means. We plan to add dedicated crash reporting and product analytics tools, and we will name those providers here when we do.
6 Who receives information
Apple receives purchase and subscription information as the operator of the App Store. Unity Technologies receives the technical and transaction information described above as our service provider. Our website hosting provider receives standard server information. We do not otherwise share information with third parties for their own purposes. Each of these companies is subject to its own privacy policy and is engaged under terms requiring it to handle information appropriately. We may also disclose information if the law or valid legal process requires it, where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our players, the public, or us, and in connection with a sale or transfer of our business, in which case we will post notice first.
7 What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. The App shows no advertising, we do not collect the Apple Advertising Identifier, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. If we ever introduce advertising, we will update this policy first and ask your permission where the law requires it. We do not collect your precise location. We do not access your contacts, calendar, camera, or microphone. We do not ask for information about your health, finances, race, or religion, and we ask that you not send it to us.
8 How long we keep information
Because there is no account, we hold very little that relates to you personally. We keep purchase records for as long as we need them to support your purchases and to meet our tax and accounting obligations, and support correspondence for as long as we need it to resolve your question. Technical and diagnostic information is kept by our providers under their own retention practices. The card image you load is not retained by us at all.
9 Your choices and rights
You can turn the photo library permission and notifications on or off in your device settings, and you can opt out of promotional messages without losing service messages about your purchases. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings. Deleting the App removes what is stored on your device. Depending on your state, you may also have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Neither applies here, because we do not sell or share your information. You may use an authorized agent, and we will not treat you differently for making a request. Email us at privacy@makemymahjapp.com and we will respond within the time the law requires. We may need to verify your identity first, and because we collect so little that identifies you, we may be unable to connect technical records to you specifically.
10 Do Not Track
Some browsers and devices send a “Do Not Track” signal. We do not respond to those signals. Where the law requires it, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out request. We do not permit anyone to collect information about your activity across other websites or apps through the Services.
11 Children’s privacy
The App is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, email us at privacy@makemymahjapp.com and we will delete it.
12 Security and where we operate
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we hold, including encrypted transmission and restricted access. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities where the law requires it. The App is offered in, and intended for players in, the United States, and information is processed in the United States and in other countries where our providers operate. If we make the App available elsewhere, we will update this policy to describe the additional rights that apply.
13 Changes and how to contact us
We may update this policy, and we expect to do so as the planned features described above launch. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and give notice in the App before it takes effect. Email us at privacy@makemymahjapp.com, or write to Silver Thread Studio LLC, c/o Cerity Partners, 15 Columbia Circle, 3rd Fl., Albany, NY 12203.
